Annoying Commercials and TV Shows

Most commercials are annoying but the majority of us know that is something we have to put up with to view free programs on the idiot box otherwise known as television. Since I
have a mute button on my TV remote, I do use it quite often.

There are these categories of commercials according to me:

1. Sometimes funny, I watch and don't mute. These are very much in the minority. Beer commercials seem to be funny more often than not. I watch them, but I don't like beer so I
don't buy any.
2. Just a commercial, I don't pay attention and just tune them out. Once in a while I watch but a commercial really doesn't influence me to buy anything.
3. Very annoying, mute as soon as possible. Sometimes these commercials insult my intelligence. The likelihood of buying this product is between slim and none.
And last, but not least,
4. The most annoying ever category, quick, change the station and never, ever buy this product!

The order of these commercials may change from time to time, depending on whether or not the producers finally wake up to the fact that the really obnoxious commercial is not giving them the intended results.

Right now the most obnoxious commercial I have seen recently is for some product called 'Head On'. When it comes on, some woman is screeching over and over again, 'Head on!' I am not quite sure what it is for, because as soon as it comes on, I change the station. It ranks up there in the 'Most annoying commercial ever' category. Some of the other commercials
in this category, which I haven't seen for a while (maybe someone caught on), are the Vonage commercial with some idiot in the background hollering 'Woohoo' over and over again and the idiot in a crazy looking suit trying to sell me a book telling how to get everything free from the Government.

I don't watch TV much any more, the quality of programming seems to get worse every year. I think it started with the so-called situation comedy shows which basically were all alike in that they were a collection of put-downs to each member in the cast and sexual innuendos. (What ever happened to good comedy, the kind like Lucy and Jack Benny provided?)

Then some idiot in charge of programming seemed to think the average TV watcher wanted to see something called 'Reality' shows. Fear Factor, Survivor, etc. and the idiot was right obviously as these shows have proliferated to the point where they all look alike. I have to admit though, I really shouldn't criticize them too much, as I haven't watched them enough to say. The commercials for these shows is enough to let me know I don't want to see more!

So I watch the Science Channel, the Discovery Channel, National Geographic and I have to admit, I do like CSI. I never watch the sappy soaps, it takes too long for anything to happen. Unless of course, for children to grow up, that can happen over night. I did watch them many years ago, but then I got my first computer and that was the end of the soaps for me.

Grumpy again!
