What is the matter with our schools? Or maybe I should ask 'What is the matter with school administrators?'
In one aspect, this 'zero tolerance' is a good thing in light of a number of violent shootings in several schools, but for goodness sake, there needs to be an element of common sense involved! This is something that seems to be sadly lacking when it comes to 'zero tolerance'.
I recently read an account where a six year old boy in Massachusetts has been accused of sexual harassment. Of all the stupid things I have heard, this ranks right up there with the most stupid. Excuse me, a six year old boy does not have a clue of what sexual harassment is, let alone guilty of the deed! What kind of ignorant administrators are we putting in place in our schools? No wonder the quality of education is deteriorating in the United States!
They want to 'send a message'. They are sending a message alright, they are sending a message that adults are idiots!
I am sure there are some schools with intelligent administrators and we just don't hear about them, as good news isn't news most of the time. At least I hope this is the case!
Good grief, idiots are running our schools, so what can we expect from the students?
