Much as I love to eat cookies, this site is not about cookies for eating or cookies on my computer. This is a place for me to fuss or discuss, what I think about stuff and most of all, experiment with Cascading Style Sheets, otherwise known as CSS. (In the event an urge to eat a cookie comes on, I may stick a receipe in here somewhere for a favorite cookie.)
I always thought I was as smart as the next person about most things. Learning how to do things used to come fairly easy. But I have met my match when it comes to designing web pages! The problem is all the fault of FrontPage. That sneaky program helped me to get started making a website. It made me think that making a website was easy! All of the ready-made 'Themes' pages designed it all for me and all I had to do was put the content in, upload it to a web host and update it every now and then. What a crock!
It took me about a year to realize there was a 'bit more' to designing web pages! I finally figured out FrontPage was just a 'helper' tool and if I wanted to have a really nice website I had to do more than just use a theme in FrontPage (sneaky FrontPage!). I discovered I would have to learn how to use HTML! Gasp! I am too old to learn this stuff! However, I wanted a nice pretty web site, so I jumped in and before I knew it, HTML was starting to make some sense and I learned how to fix some of the absolutely awful code that is still lingering on my main website, Martha's Web. (It's all been fixed now!)
It's a strange thing, once I got started I wanted to learn how to do it all, HTML, CSS, DWTs (Dynamic Web Templates), and all of the things that make a website work and make it work easy. But my problem lies in the fact that I want to fly before I learn to walk!
So here I am, trying still to figure all of this stuff out, lurking on Yahoo groups and reading my CSS books. I should have bought my books and read them before trying to implement all of this, but then I have never done things the easy way!
Stay tuned, more to come, my cookies for life are on the way! This site is not going to stay the same by any means! Right now I am using a modified template, some day maybe it will be my own template!
