I know I am probably not the only one that is just plain sick and tired of having commercial ads pushed at me every time I turn around. The TV channels sometimes seem to have more time on commercials than they do on programming. That has been going on a long time, and most of us expect commercials. Some of them are funny and are quite entertaining.
I realize that the ads pay the bills so they can provide content, but enough is enough! There are so many ads for outrageously expensive prescription drugs, it can make you sick! (pun intended.) If you pay attention to these ads, it would appear the side effects might be worse than the condition that may require the drug in question.
It's no wonder people can't afford their prescriptions, the drug companies pay so much for the ads they have to jack up the price of the medicine. What really turns me off is 'Ask your doctor'. I really expect my doctor to know which medicine is best! I think the tried and true might do more good that the untried and perhaps deadly!
Because this 'Ask your doctor' is in the ads, countless people who may or may not need medication are 'asking their doctor' who prescribes these outrageous drugs. Doctors do this for several reasons, mainly because doctors are not pharmacists and can't possible know which medicine may be best, or they know that if they don't prescribe the drug in question their patients may go elsewhere to get the drug. There are even some indications doctors may be getting a 'kick back' if they do prescribe the drug.
I am dropping all of my magazine subscriptions, I just don't see paying for all those drug ads in print when then are shoved down my throat every time I watch TV.
Just call me a 'grumpy old lady', but I bet I am not the only person to feel this way!
